ROUND TABLE - "INVESTING IN WOMEN".
On Tuesday, November 8, 17H10 co-founders Caroline Rey and Amélie Delacour welcomed Léa Lejeune, Co-founder of Plan Cash Media; Meryl Attou, Investor Relations Director of Lita.co; and Alice Groth, Partner of Sistafund for a roundtable discussion around the topic of investing as a woman. 📊 ⚡️
According to figures, only 23% of women invest, for 37% of men (source: Bpifrance) and only 9 to 10% of business angels are women in France (source: Femmes Business Angels).Even if many would like to start investing (whether in the stock market, in startups, or in real estate for example) a lack of representation and support still leaves a majority of women without the tools to feel serene in this still very masculine world. During this round table, we were able to discuss the barriers and biases that can prevent women from getting started, but especially from This is why they have every reason to get started quickly, particularly in order to strengthen their independence by building their financial future.
Thanks to the speakers, we learned that investing does not have to be risky: "the main thing is to start early in order to get used to it and develop good habits".
As mentioned by Meryl Attou, it is possible to start from only 20€ on some platforms. As mentioned by Léa Lejeune, a former economic journalist, "many women think they lack knowledge about investing, and very few read the economic press". The reason? The information is too often aimed at a seasoned male audience, making it inaccessible.
It is crucial for women to have more "role models" of investment representing them to the general public, so that they can identify with them. That's why Plan Cash launched its series of portraits "This is an investor" to bring more representation and encouragement to women who may be hesitant to start.
According to Léa Lejeune, "It is important to address the subject of investment in the couple, so that each one is in the construction of its own financial future", and that the roles are not at the disadvantage of women in case of separation.
According to Meryl Attou of Lita.co, the ethical investment platform on which 17H10 is raising funds, investing would also allow women to build a future that matches their values, by investing in startups with a positive impact.
